BATTING TIPS
Looking for some pointers?
These tips will help you to Stay Focused. Stay In. Score Runs
Tip 1. Watch the ball
The simplest but most easily forgotten tip, watch the ball. As the bowler runs in, look at the ball in their hand, and watch the release. Keep focused on the ball until it hits your bat. Before every ball, make a commitment to watch the ball all the way onto your bat. T4B helps young batters remember before every ball to stay focused on watching the ball out of the bowlers’ hands with our Watch the Release (Technical Pack) and Watch the Ball (Mindset Pack) stickers. As they look down at their bat the stickers reminded them of this key message for success.

Tip 2. Balance
Begin with a balanced stance. Keep your head still and slightly forward. Make sure your feet are shoulder-width apart, and your body weight is evenly spread. Move your head to the flight of the ball.

Tip 3. Relax and concentrate
Be relaxed and concentrate fully at the crease. Have a mental routine that relaxes your mind between balls. Use the time between balls to take deep breaths, relax and achieve full concentration. Now nothing else matters and you are ready to face anything the bowler sends down. Build your innings one ball at a time.
T4B helps young batters use the time between balls to relax, block out noise and fully concentrate with our Relax, Deep Breaths, Full Concentration and Nothing Else Matters (Mindset Pack) stickers. As they look down at their bat the stickers prompt them to set up mentally for scoring runs!
Tip 4. Be confident
Be positive at the crease, be confident and look to score! Batters deserve to enjoy their innings by making runs. Keep a positive mindset by looking for gaps and areas to score. Don’t focus on the fielders but on the gaps, and the runs will come!
T4B helps young batters to stay confident and in a positive mindset at the crease and always focused on the best part of the game, scoring runs! Our Look to Score and Positive Mindset (Mindset Pack) stickers remind batters between balls to stay confident and in an attacking mindset at the crease, Look for Gaps (Technical Pack) and score runs!
Tip 5. Be assertive
Know where the singles are and be assertive. Make loud calls to your batting partner, commit to your decision, and run hard between the wickets.
T4B helps young batters to be assertive and take control at the crease. Our Mindset Pack stickers prompt batters to stay in control at the crease, and score runs!
Tip 6. Learn to play your strokes
Practice the classics (forward defence, straight and cover drives, pull and cover shots) in the nets and learn how it feels to play those strokes.
T4B helps young batters at the crease to remember to play their stokes. Our Technical Pack stickers prompt batters to remember key techniques for executing strokes that will score runs. Use Rock the Baby and Smother the ball stickers to prompt your young cricketer to execute the forward defensive stroke, a fundamental stroke for building a strong forward drive.
Tip 7. Foot speed
A batter who can quickly adjust their position to meet variations in line and length through fast footwork will see better timed and more powerful strokes. Coaches continually encourage players to dance at the crease. Forgetting footwork leads to batters rooted to the crease, open to LBW and bowled dismissals. Keep dancing to stay in and score runs!
T4B helps young batters remember that fast feet is a key action for success at the crease. Hit strokes with perfect position and timing. Use Fast Feet and Dance stickers to prompt batters to stay active and avoid the consequences of poor footwork.
Tip 8. Soft hands
Play with soft hands to guide the ball into run scoring areas. This helps batters steadily build their tally and frustrate the bowling side, all the while staying at the crease.
T4B helps young batters remember to play with soft hands to guide the ball into the gaps. Use our Soft Hands and Guide the Ball stickers to prompt batters to look for those gaps and play smart.
